When the number matters, check the law itself. These are the government bodies that actually own employment rules in each Gulf state — not summaries of summaries.
Laws change — Bahrain replaced its entire gratuity system in 2024 and Oman's reform is still phasing in. Anything that affects a real decision should be verified on these official pages or with a licensed adviser, not taken from any calculator, this one included.
Qatar
- Ministry of Labour — labour law, complaints, end-of-service rules (Labour Law No. 14 of 2004; gratuity minimum three weeks' basic per year).
- Hukoomi — the government services portal: visas, QID, family sponsorship.
United Arab Emirates
- Ministry of Human Resources & Emiratisation (MOHRE) — labour law, gratuity (Federal Decree-Law 33 of 2021), complaints and enquiry services.
- u.ae — the official UAE portal; plain-language guides to end-of-service, visas and contracts.
- Free zones run their own schemes: DIFC (DEWS savings plan) and ADGM — if your employer is in one, the standard gratuity rules may not apply to you.
Saudi Arabia
- Ministry of Human Resources & Social Development (HRSD) — the Labour Law, including the end-of-service rules (Articles 84–87) and the resignation tiers that can reduce your award.
- Qiwa — contracts, work permits and employment services platform.
- GOSI — social insurance; occupational hazard cover applies to expats.
Bahrain
- Social Insurance Organization (SIO) — since 1 March 2024, expat end-of-service is paid by the SIO from monthly employer contributions, not by your employer. You claim it here at the end of your job.
- Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) — work permits, and the Expatriate Protection Centre for complaints.
Kuwait
- Public Authority for Manpower — Labour Law No. 6 of 2010, indemnity rules (15 days/year then a month, capped at 18 months) and complaints.
Oman
- Ministry of Labour — the 2023 Labour Law, including the switch to one month's basic per year for post-July-2023 service.
- Social Protection Fund — the savings scheme gradually replacing employer-paid gratuity.
From the UK
- FCDO Legalisation Office — the first stamp in the document attestation chain for degrees and certificates.
- ACRO Criminal Records Office — police clearance certificates for visa applications.
